At a baseball game

In my effort to make the world a much more pleasant place to enjoy, I offer you these simple tips in "Etiquette by Ashley".

A few tips if you are enjoying a baseball game.  By following these simple rules, you'll have a much more pleasurable experience, and you'll preven being heckled you when you do these things.
  • NEVER, and I mean NEVER get up while play is occuring.  This means don't go to the bathroom, don't go and get a beer or a hot dog. It. can. wait.  There are nine innings of baseball, each with a break for the teams to get settled in the field.  SO GO THEN. DO NOT GET UP WHILE A PLAYER IS AT BAT.
    • Why is this important? There are people sitting behind you that actually want to watch the game.  Oh by the way, when you stand up, they usually can't see.  Be polite.
    • Why else is this important??  You paid for those seats, so enjoy them!
  • Don't wear a big hat.  I realize it's sunny and usually hot in the summer, as you cheer on your favorite team.  A baseball cap or visor with sunscreen will suffice.  You don't need a gardening hat, a cowboy hat, etc. to enjoy the game.
  • Same goes for an umbrella ... bring a rain coat, buy a poncho or find a dry place to be.  No need to infringe on the views of those behind you.
  • When people who are sitting next to you need to get out of the row, stand up to let them pass by.  Some people can't climb over you, nor do they want to ... If the person trying to navigate their way past is short (or vertically challenged), do yourself a favor by standing up.  Otherwise, someone might end up sitting in your lap.
  • Don't bring an infant to a game.  Why?  There are babysitters for that.  Plus babies inhibit your ability to enjoy the game because you are constantly trying to provide for their needs.   Why else?  You need your hands free in case a foul ball comes your way.
  • If you are trying to catch a foul ball ... there really are no rules.  Men of all ages want to catch that ball that has eluded them since childhood.  Just make sure there is someone with a baseball mit around you, as those balls can hurt if you try to catch them with your bare hands.
Mainly, it all boils down to ... BE POLITE, and you'll enjoy your experience and live by example!
